Sacagawea traversed the same route the hardy soldiers with Lewis and Clark took across an unmapped wilderness, with a baby on her back. Clark spoke highly of her and her son and thought she deserved "greater reward" than the expedition could give her. She was about 25 when she died, passing away at a younger age than anyone on the expedition except Sgt Charles Floyd who died on the upriver trip in 1804. |
